First Card and I’m Glad to have it!

This was the first card I have ever applied for. I have had accounts with BOA for some years now and applied in person with a representative. Immediately, I was approved for a $2000 limit, and now 12 months later BOA has automatically increased my limit to $3500. There is also a 10% bonus on rewards if transferred to a BOA account. I would recommend this card to first time credit card users and BOA account holders. So far I’m very happy with this card!

This is like any other card except that they only allow you to redeem your rewards of do you have $25 in them so if you have less and you don’t want to use the card you will lose those rewards. Payments also take a few days to post but overall the cart is OK.

I love this card.  It so happens that I opened a checking account with Bank of America a few months before applying for this card.  I was approved online instantly.  I applied to get the (then) $150 bonus after 3 months with $500 of spending.  Because I have the deposit account, I can get a 10% bonus on cashback if I have it deposited into the checking account.  I got the initial bonus plus cashback, just had to claim it online, with no problem.  Took little time, even less than they'd projected.  This card works excellently for me because most of my spending in life is at the grocery store, and I don't know of a better cashback on that than 2%.  It's not hard to spend $500 on groceries in 3 months.  I have Savor card too, but don't get the 10% bonus with that.  I would use the card for 3% back on gas, but it's hardly worth it to risk a gas pump credit card theft.  I do that when Chase Freedom offers 5% back ;)  The Bank of America World Mastercard could be better if there were no foreign transaction fee.  Capital One Savor does not charge a foreign transaction fee, therefore I use it for purchases which could incur such a charge.

How To Apply For A Credit Card

Credit card applications are straightforward, but you'll need to meet some minimum financial requirements to get approved for the best credit card offers. Learn how to apply for a credit online and what to expect after you click submit.

  • Knowing your credit score and what's on your credit report can help you determine what products to apply for. If you have fair credit, for example, you may not want to apply for a card that clearly states that only applicants with excellent credit will be approved.
  • If you don't have good credit, you may find it difficult to get approved for a card with a large sign-up bonus and a lucrative reward structure. Each credit card application ends up on your credit report, so the Nerds recommend using our credit cards comparison tool to find a card that fits your credit profile before applying.
  • If the card allows balance transfers, you may request to have balances transferred from other credit card accounts to the new card.
  • To apply for a credit card in the US, you’ll need a valid Social Security number and a positive credit history. The best rewards credit cards may require at least three to five years of good credit history, and some more than seven.
